Waukegan, IL– The Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced the results of a 3-day St. Patrick’s Day DUI and Seat Belt Enforcement Weekend. Results included 4 DUI arrests, 48 seat belt citations, 34 traffic citations and one non-traffic citation. A total of 86 traffic citations were written.
Sheriff Mark Curran stated, “The streets were a little safer during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday because of the local, state and federal DUI and Seat Belt enforcement campaign. Keeping drunk drivers off the roads, and keeping drivers and passengers buckled up, saves lives.”
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with other state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the Illinois St. Patrick’s Day crackdown.
The law enforcement campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
