The simple act of walking, especially in nature, can improve your overall health, both physically and mentally. The Lake County Forest Preserves, the Lake County Health Department and NorthShore University Health System have teamed up to bring “Rx for Health: Walking in Nature” to the community. This program brings together naturalists and health care providers with community members for guided walking tours of Lake County’s forest preserves.
- All walks begin promptly at 4:00 p.m. and end around 5:30 p.m.
- The walks range in length from 1 to 2 miles. Everyone can walk at their own pace and distance.
- Walks are guided by a NorthShore physician, a Lake County Forest Preserve naturalist, and staff from the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center.
- The walks are open to all ages, but those 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
- These are rain or shine events.
- With the exception of service animals, pets are not allowed.
