Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service - Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) apprehended Matthew T. Heidbrick, 27, of the 25700 block of North Gilmer Road, Ela Township.
Heidbrick was wanted on a failure to appear arrest warrant for unlawful possession of a controlled substance (bond amount $100,000.00) regarding a previous arrest (17CF342). Heidbrick also had a Lake County Body Attachment with a $6,000 full-cash bond (16D1544).
Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team members developed information indicating Heidbrick was at his residence in the 25700 block of North Gilmer Road. Warrants Deputies located Heidbrick hiding in an upstairs attic. Heidbrick refused numerous requests to surrender and exit the attic. Heidbrick instead retreated further into the attic and barricaded himself.
Warrants Deputies breached the wall in the area Heidbrick was hiding. He still refused to surrender. Sheriff’s Canine Dax was deployed and assisted in the apprehension effort. Heidbrick was apprehended and transported to a local hospital, where he received treatment for the dog bite, and was released back into the custody of Warrants Deputies.
Heidbrick was also charged with Striking a Police Animal (Class A Misdemeanor), Resisting a Peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor), and Obstructing a Peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor).
Heidbrick remains held in the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing this afternoon.
