Lake County Division of Transportation is partnering with Oxcart Permit Systems to issue oversize/overweight truck permits. According to the Illinois Vehicle Code, truck permits are required for all overweight and over-dimensioned truck trips and issued by each roadway jurisdiction where applicable.
The use of Oxcart’s web-based solution will allow coordination between permits issued by Lake County and permits issued by other agencies, such as the Illinois Department of Transportation. Trucking companies will now have 24-hour, seven days a week access to apply for permits and make payments.
McHenry, Livingston, and Boone Counties, and the Villages of Barrington, Barrington Hills, Deerfield, Fox River Grove, Vernon Hills, Wheeling, and Winthrop Harbor currently use Oxcart. Other local governments are also looking to begin using Oxcart this coming year.
