Sheriff Mark Curran is pleased to announce the Lake County Sheriff’s Office is seeking accreditation through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP).

ILEAP is an accreditation program sponsored by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.  Currently over 20 law enforcement agencies are currently accredited through ILEAP.  The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the first Illinois sheriff’s office to seek accreditation through ILEAP.

ILEAP is an accreditation program where law enforcement agency policies and procedures are evaluated against established criteria, and have compliance with those criteria verified by an independent authoritative body, the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Council.  

Sheriff Mark Curran said, “I look forward to having the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program review the way we conduct business at the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.  Over the years we’ve raised the bar, making it a priority to improve policies, procedures, implement best practices, and be completely transparent with the community we serve.  I’m excited to be the first sheriff’s office in Illinois to welcome ILEAP to validate our operational practices and procedures.”
