Open Enrollment is here. This is the time of year to register for health insurance benefits through the HealthCare.gov website, also known as the Health Insurance Marketplace.
If you do not have insurance through an employer, Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or other qualifying health insurance, you have from November 1 through December 15, 2017 to enroll in a health insurance plan. Make sure to register for health insurance benefits through the HealthCare.gov website, also known as the Health Insurance Marketplace. Anyone who currently has coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace must review and renew their plan during Open Enrollment. By law, each health insurance plan must cover essential health benefits such as hospitalizations, doctor visits, and prescription medicine.
Financial assistance is still available to individuals meeting the income eligibility criteria. HealthCare.gov is the only place you can get financial help with insurance costs. Illinois residents needing in-person assistance applying can visit getcoveredamerica.org to find local help.
