On June 12, 2017, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a robbery at a residence in the 12000 block of West Wadsworth Road, Beach Park.
The investigation revealed the 20 year-old victim, who resides at the above residence, was robbed of electronics and other valuables by an adult and a juvenile. One of the offenders was armed with a gun (later determined to be a BB Gun).
Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives conducted a thorough investigation and identified one of the offenders as Steven Bunch, Jr., 20, of the 3000 block of Gabriel Avenue, Zion. The other offender was identified as a 17 year-old juvenile of Waukegan.
On November 13, 2017, Sheriff’s Detectives obtained an arrest warrant ($100,000.00 bond) for Bunch for Aggravated Robbery (Class 1 Felony) and Theft (Class 3 Felony).
On November 14, 2017, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service - Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) apprehended Bunch without incident, as he exited his residence.
Bunch was transported to the Lake County Jail where he remains held on $75,000.00 bail. He is next due in court on December 5, 2017 at 1:30PM in courtroom C-120.
The juvenile offender was referred to juvenile court on October 13, 2017, for his involvement in the incident.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
