After a Building Permit is issued, the project is inspected at various stages of construction including:

  • Footings and Setbacks
  • Drain Tile
  • Damp Proofing Foundation
  • Underground
    • Plumbing
    • Heating
    • Electrical
  • Building Final Certificate of Occupancy (C/O) Inspection
  • Insulation
  • Rough Inspections 
    • Carpentry
    • Masonry
    • Electrical
    • Plumbing
    • Heating/Air

Scheduling Building Inspections

Building inspections can be scheduled through the Online Inspection Request Form. Inspection requests require a 24-hour notice with the exception of a footing/pre-pour inspection. Footing/pre-pour inspection requests require a 4-hour notice.

We are unable to accommodate specific inspection appointment times. However, we have two (2)  appointment windows, AM(8-12) and PM (12-4), available Monday through Friday. Appointments can't be scheduled during weekends. Inspection requests for AM appointments must be made by 12PM the previous day and no later then 3PM for a PM inspection the following day. Cancelations must still be conducted by phone at 847-377-2600.

All information must be provided in order for your inspection to be scheduled. This includes:
  • Your name and phone number
  • Your permit number
  • The type of inspection that you are requesting
  • The inspection date requested
To schedule inspections by phone, please contact the Planning, Building and Development office at 847-377-2600 at least 24 hours in advance. For footing and/or setback inspection, please call four (4) hours in advance. This inspection voice mail box is checked regularly throughout the day.

Please Note: Depending on the project, other agencies such as local fire departments, water utilities or the Health Department may require their own inspection. Please contact them to schedule those inspections.
