In 2022 Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (SMC) put $30 million of the $122 million appropriation from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) into action across Lake County. Designated for 14 projects, the initial grant was estimated to provide benefit to more than 2, 300 properties and 25 roadways across the county.
Last spring, the construction of seven projects began in the communities of Antioch, Fox Lake, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Libertyville, Libertyville Township. DCEO grant funding also supported the final engineering of seven other projects set for construction in spring of this year. Working with local community partners, SMC identified 52 additional project locations that are in critical need of infrastructure upgrades. Information on each of these projects can be found here. These projects will be funded through the remaining appropriated funds once the monies are released by the State of IL.
Looking ahead, SMC will continue to work toward the completion of the remaining projects which are set for construction in 2023. Click here to watch the SMC 2022 Recap and Looking Ahead Video.
