American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)
Learn about the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which was signed into law to provide federal funding to local governments for response and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Broadband
In 2023, the Lake County Board formed a new committee focused on determining the current state of broadband in Lake County and coming up with recommendations for improvement. The Committee will consider our resident’s access, affordability, and use in their work.

C-PACE
C-PACE is an innovative program that provides long-term, fixed-rate, non-recourse financing to private building owners for energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, electric vehicle charging and resiliency projects to be installed in commercial buildings.

Independent Ethics Commission
In 2021, the Lake County Board created a new Independent Ethics Commission to review, investigate, hear, and act on ethics complaints. The Commission was approved as part of a comprehensive update to the County’s Ethics & Conduct Code.

Legislative Program
The purpose of the county’s legislative program is to pursue new laws and authorities, oppose laws that are believed to have a negative impact on county government and Lake County residents, and pursue funding from the State of Illinois and the federal government.

Local Government Efficiency Act
PA 102-1088, which went into effect on June 10, 2022, requires local governments (excluding municipalities and counties) to establish special committees to study their own efficiencies and then submit a report to their county board. Regional 911 Consolidation
Lake County and several public safety partners from across the county are exploring opportunities to consolidate many 911 centers into a few regional 911 centers to improve quality, efficiency, and provide cost savings.

Rental Assistance
The Lake County Rental Assistance Program provides rent assistance for renters who faced financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Single-Use Plastics
Furthering our efforts to support the environment and promote sustainability, Lake County has implemented a program that prohibits the purchase, sale and distribution of single-use plastics of food service items within County government operations, which includes cafeteria operations, coffee kiosk and vending machines at all County government sites.

Strategic Plan
Lake County’s Strategic Plan, which serves as our road map over the next several years, identifies five strategic goals related to transportation, sustainability, healthy communities, economic opportunities and public safety. We report our progress on the plan bi-annually.
