Limits: Arlington Heights Road from IL Route 83 to Lake Cook Road
Description: Pavement reconstruction project for 1.5 miles of Arlington Heights Road in the villages of Buffalo Grove, Long Grove and unincorporated Lake County
Background: LCDOT has identified Arlington Heights Road as a pavement reconstruction project in the Lake County Transportation Improvement Program. The pavement condition between IL Route 83 and Lake Cook Road has reached the end of its service life and needs to be replaced. This is an opportunity for LCDOT to make safety and operational improvements to the corridor such as adding turn lanes where they are warranted or to complete sidewalk gaps. There are no plans to widen Arlington Heights Road as a part of this pavement replacement project. The project will use motor fuel tax funds to reconstruct the roadway within the project limits. This project is in the planning stages to refine the preferred alternative and continue stakeholder coordination. A project letting date is targeted for fall 2023.
LCDOT hosted a Virtual Public Meeting via Zoom on January 27, 2022 to present the proposed alternative to the public. The meeting included a live presentation and a question-and-answer session with the project team. Following the meeting, LCDOT accepted public comments for a two-week period for inclusion in the meeting’s public record.
This was the second public involvement opportunity for this project -- early in 2021, LCDOT presented preliminary ideas and asked for input. See what the community said about the project on the project input website.
Detailed construction documents are being prepared. Construction is targeted to begin in 2024 pending project readiness and land acquisition needs.
