Virtual Property Assessment Hearings
During the Governor's State of Illinois disaster declaration related to public health concerns, requested in-person hearings will be conducted by audio or video conference. DETERMINATION OF NEED FOR IN-PERSON HEARINGS
Attending your Virtual Property Assessment Hearing
Hearings for the 2022 Board of Review that are conducted via Zoom will receive a letter in the mail with information about your hearing and how to attend once your hearing is scheduled.
If you wish to view your submitted assessment appeal evidence, please visit tax.lakecountyil.gov and click Documents or Appeal Comparables.
To ensure a smooth transition into your virtual hearing, please join five minutes before your scheduled time, to allow staff to check you in.
If you requested an in-person hearing, you have the option to:
- Join by phone (no setup required) or
- Join by a Zoom video meeting (setup required).
If you requested a phone hearing, please join by phone (no setup required).

During your Virtual Property Assessment Hearing
Fifteen (15) minutes are allotted per hearing. During the hearing, the Board of Review will review evidence, hear testimony and rebuttal from the Appellant and Township Assessor, the Board will ask questions and render a decision. Consequently, it is important that you organize your evidence and testimony so that the complete hearing can take place within fifteen (15) minutes.
If you do not attend your scheduled hearing, your case will be heard based on the evidence you submitted. Hearings cannot be rescheduled.
The Open Appeals Act require these meetings be recorded and held for 18 months and require these meetings to be available for the Public to attend - please keep in mind that any public resident can join your virtual hearing.

6. What happens if there is an issue with Zoom or a power outage on the Lake County site?
Please refer to this website for any changes to the Zoom meeting or for Emergency Notifications.

Yes. All Board of Review meetings follow the open meetings act.
