Project Location: Intersection of Wilson Road and Rollins Road in Ingleside.
Project Description: The existing concrete drop chamber structure in the intersection of Wilson Road and Rollins Road was built in 1979 and is located in under the pavement. This drop chamber combines flows from 8” and 24” gravity sanitary sewers into a 42” interceptor sanitary sewer. This project will rehabilitate the concrete drop chamber structure in the intersection of Wilson and Rollins Roads and will rehabilitate the drop box structure located east of the intersection on Old Rollins Road. The project also includes associated by-pass pumping of sewer flows in the area in order to make the repairs.
The contractor will need to work in the northeast corner of the Wilson and Rollins Road intersection, which will require new travel patterns and lane configurations through the intersection. Left turn lanes at the intersection will be temporarily removed, so traffic signals operations will be adjusted to provide for safe left turns. Westbound Rollins Road to northbound Wilson Road truck turning movements at the intersection will be restricted. A truck detour will be in place for approximately 12 weeks.
Drivers may also notice additional sanitary sewer lining activities along Wilson Road, Rollins Road and at the west end of Old Rollins Road. Temporary daytime lane shifts during off peak travel times will be necessary to complete this adjacent sewer lining work. Please allow for extra travel time through the intersection and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
Construction for the entire project is anticipated to begin in June, pending final approvals, and will last for approximately three months. LCPW is proactive in maintaining its infrastructure and one method to ensure continued service and eliminate potential environmental impacts is by rehabilitating sanitary sewer pipes.
Construction is underway and will last approximately three months.
