Project Location: Village of Round Lake. North of Round Lake High School, along Park Road and then south to Washington St.
Traffic Impacts: Roadway access for local traffic will continue to be provided during construction, but there will be daytime lane closures and occasional full road closures. Please drive carefully through the construction work zone, watch out for workers and follow the temporary signs.
Project Description: This project consists of the replacement of an existing 10-inch sanitary sewer force main from the intersection of Sunset Drive and Long Lake Drive, thru an easement heading east across the high school property and then continuing east and then south along Park Road to the intersection of Park Road and Washington Street. The force main is referred to as the Midland force main because the pipe originates at the Midland Drive sewer lift station that is located south of Washington Street. However, there is not any work planned on Midland Drive as a part of this project. Please refer to the project map for the project area. Most of the construction work will consist of directional drilling a new force main pipe below ground, which involves excavations of bore pits at strategic locations within the public road right-of-way. View the list of FAQs for more information about this project.
Current Information: Erosion control measures are installed. The contractor completed installation of the bored and jacked casing pipe under Cedar Lake Road. Work for the coming weeks will include excavation of drill pits and directional drilling of the new force main along Park Road.
Construction began in September of 2020 and is anticipated to be substantially completed in about 3 months, with final completion and restoration anticipated in the spring of 2021.
