Project Description: The Vernon Hills Water System serves approximately 25,000 residents in the Village of Vernon Hills and surrounding areas and requires additional storage capacity to protect users in the event of increased water demand or emergency circumstances. The design of a new two million-gallon water reservoir is underway for the Vernon Hills Water System.
Water reservoirs provide additional storage capacity in the event of increased water demand or emergency circumstances. The project was planned for and funded through Lake County Public Works Capital Improvement Program, and a new revenue stream is not required. Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-2022 and will take approximately two years to complete.
This project is currently in the concept planning phase. On April 13, 2021, the Lake County Board approved the location for the water reservoir. Construction of a new reservoir is anticipated within the 2021-2025 Capital Improvement Program.
