Project Location: At the Des Plaines River Water Reclamation Facility in the Buffalo Grove area
Project Description: Improvements are underway to the existing Des Plaines River Water Reclamation Facility to construct biological nutrient removal and biosolids drying facilities, to meet new Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) nutrient limits for flows discharged to the Des Plaines River. This project helps enhance the health of water bodies and habitat by reducing nutrients discharged to the Des Plaines River. There is also the potential for dried biosolids to be used for fertilizer to support agriculture and local food production.
This project is underway.
