8/27/18 - The retaining walls were recently completed and the shoulders have been widened. This week will bring final surface paving, pavement markings and guardrail installation. Once those items are complete, landscaping and other final punch list items will be addressed. This project is nearing completion after rain delays led to a brief extension.
7/19/18 - The contractor is now framing and pouring the box culvert extensions and head walls. The footings have been poured and the forms and rebar are being installed for the walls. Daily lane closures will be needed for this work.
7/6/18 - Gilmer Road is now open. Work will continue at the site to build the headwalls while using daily lane closures. Please continue to use caution in the area as traffic lanes have shifted and a work zone speed limit is in place.
6/15/18 - The existing culvert has been removed, and the new box culvert is being installed. Once the precast culvert is installed, the backfill will be placed and the end sections and wing walls will be framed.
5/23/18 - The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will be closing Gilmer Road, from Midlothian Road to Diamond Lake Road, to through traffic starting Thursday, June 7 at 6 a.m. and will reopen the afternoon of Friday, July 6. The closure is necessary to replace a culvert south of Sequoia Road. Local traffic will have access to Sequoia Road from the north and access to Darlington Drive from the south.
