24/7 Crisis Care
By Phone: Individuals can speak anonymously to counselors 24 hours a day and get help by contacting the Crisis Care Program at 847-377-8088. You do not have to give your name when you call. Information and referrals to Lake County Health Department programs are available.
In Person: Crisis counselors are also available to speak with you in person 24 hours a day. You can call first to let us know you’re coming by, or just show up.
Counselors can help guide you through difficult times, manage stress, anxiety and depression, and cope with longer-term difficulties.
Specialty Court Programs
In addition to the various health department services available, the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit has specialty courts including Drug Court, Mental Health Court, and the Veterans Treatment and Assistance Court, which are all part of the Therapeutic Intensive Monitoring (TIM) Unit. Learn more.
Mental Health First Aid Training Classes
The Lake County Health Department hosts Mental Health First Aid training classes that teach you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The eight-hour free courses are scheduled across Lake County and are offered in English and Spanish. The courses teach:
- Risk factors and warning signs of mental health concerns.
- Information on depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance abuse.
- A 5-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health concern or in crisis.
