Marriage Licenses

Vital Records Office Hours

Getting married before June 7, 2020?

Because public access to the County Building is currently restricted and the judges are not performing courthouse ceremonies, the Lake County Clerk is only issuing marriage licenses for ceremonies occurring on or before June 7, 2020.

Since the clerk’s office is working during limited hours and the couple must apply in-person, a license will be issued only by appointment. Weekday appointments are available between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and no weekend appointments are available.

Prior to the application appointment, a verification letter from the couple’s qualified officiant must be emailed to VitalRecords@lakecountyil.gov on or before June 1st containing:

  1. Couple’s individual names and contact information (including email address)
  2. Date of ceremony
  3. Name of facility and Lake County address where ceremony is taking place
  4. Officiant’s name, contact information, and signature

Please call our office (847-377-2400) weekdays between 10 AM and 3 PM to confirm the clerk’s receipt of your verification letter.
