What is Text-A-Tip
Text-A-Tip is a 24/7 anonymous text crisis hotline offering emotional support for middle school and high school youth. The service is provided by LEAD (Linking Efforts Against Drugs), a Lake Forest non-profit. LEAD is partnering with schools throughout Lake County to provide youth a comfortable way to communicate concerns with mental health professionals in an anonymous environment.
How It Works
Your community code is LAKECO and is unique to your community. You will then simply text LAKECO (and your message) to the number 1-844-823-5323. Within seconds, you will receive an automated response, and within minutes a live mental health counselor will respond to your text. All messages are sent through a cloaking server located offsite that keeps the communication completely anonymous.
Who Should Use Text-A-Tip
The short answer is anyone! Text-A-Tip is available for anyone in need of emotional support, at any time. While the line is intended for crisis situations, you do not need to be in crisis to use the service. We also encourage you to use Text-A-Tip if you have concerns about a friend or loved one and need support in getting them help.
