Paratransit Market Study for the Lake County Region is now complete

The Paratransit Market Study for the Lake County region is complete. The study evaluated transportation options for seniors, people with disabilities, and the general public. Throughout the study there were numerous opportunities for public input, and a dedicated group of stakeholders representing various partners and agencies were part of the process from start to finish. A final report is now available that details study findings and identifies possible governance and service strategies to improve service in Lake County.

Background on the study: A Paratransit Market Study was initiated in Lake County to evaluate transportation options for seniors, people with disabilities, and the general public. A variety of services are currently available, such as Pace Dial-a-Ride or township programs, to assist these populations in their travels to and from medical appointments, places of employment and other daily activities. Unlike a traditional scheduled bus service that runs on a published route and serves fixed bus stops, paratransit is a shared and flexible on-demand service that responds to rider requests for travel within a defined service area. Paratransit services are geared toward individuals with mobility limitations that prevent them from accessing scheduled bus service, and/or live outside of an area served by scheduled bus service.
