February 28, 2017 Consolidated Primary Election


This election is only for Waukegan Township and the City of Waukegan residents.

Races will be for the nomination of township highway commissioner, city mayor, and city clerk candidates. No contested Republican candidates or nonpartisan public questions were certified for the primary election. The winners of these races will appear on the ballot for the April 4, 2017 Consolidated Election.

All registered voters in the City of Waukegan or Waukegan Township may vote by mail, early, or on Election Day. Before a ballot can be issued, every voter must sign a ballot application for each election. Voter's identity is verified by a signature match to voter's original registration record.
Voter Registration
  • Register online through the State of Illinois.
    Available until Feb. 12. Illinois driver's license or state identification is required.
  • Register in person
    Available until Jan. 31 with a deputy registrar or at the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Register by mail
    Must be postmarked by Jan. 31.
  • Grace Registration
    Feb. 1 - 28
    Available at either early voting site,  assigned Election Day voting site, or the Clerk’s office. Use the Polling Place Locator to find your assigned voting site.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, residents of their precinct for 30 days before Election Day, 18 years old on or before the general election, provide two forms of valid identification, and vote at the time of registration. Both pieces of identification must show voter’s name and one must show current Lake County address.
