Description: The Lake County Division of Transportation is currently involved in the Phase II engineering for the improvement of the intersection of Gilmer Road and Midlothian Road in Hawthorn Woods and unincorporated Lake County.
7/1/2021 - Contract letting anticipated for August, with some off-road work expected to begin in fall 2021. On-road work will not begin until 2022.
8/10/2020 -Project has been moved to the 2021 construction season.
2017 - The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is currently involved in Phase II engineering for the improvement of the intersection of Gilmer Road and Midlothian Road. A traditional signalized intersection was selected to improve roadway and intersection safety and traffic operation at this location. LCDOT is in the final stage of design and right of way acquisition is underway. The $11.3 million project is programmed for construction in 2020.
2013 - Phase I: Preliminary engineering for the Gilmer Road – Midlothian Road intersection improvement is nearing completion. A traditional signalized intersection has been selected as the preferred alternative. LCDOT is anticipating a Public Hearing for the project in the Spring of 2015 where we will present the preferred alternative.
