Public Works Alerts Through CodeRED
How do I make sure I am notified of alerts?
Initially, the Public Works Department used telephone and email records that customers have provided. However, customers should not assume they are in the system. Customers should register online, particularly if they have moved or changed their phone number recently.
Once signed up, customers will receive alerts from the phone number 866-419-5000 or 855-969-4636. Save this phone number so you know when Public Works is alerting you.
How do I sign up?
There is no cost to participate. Customers will need to add their first and last name, physical street address (no P.O. Boxes), city, state, zip code, primary phone number and alternate phone numbers. When signing up, customers may need to move the marker on the map to the correct location. Register for CodeRed.
How do phone calls from CodeRed work?
CodeRED delivers the message through a high-speed telephone calling system to a phone number registered in the system. Lake County Public Works selects a “call area” and the phone numbers are matched up electronically to addresses. A pre-recorded message is sent via telephone with information about the situation. Customers will see the phone number 866-419-5000 appearing on their caller ID. If a customer misses a call, they can call the number back to listen to the pre-recorded message.
CodeRed Mobile Alert App
Customers can receive public safety alerts from agencies using CodeRED no matter where they are located via the CodeRED Mobile Alert app – a free public safety app for both Android and iPhone users. If customers are currently a CodeRed subscriber that has already registered their mobile phone to receive notifications from Lake County Public Works, they will continue to receive calls. However, by downloading the CodeRED Mobile Alert app, customers will receive alerts through their smartphone from anywhere in the country, including Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Alaska.
