How to Self Surrender

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office maintains the constitutional and statutory requirement to enforce criminal warrants directed by the Lake County Circuit Court. Once entered into various local, a state and national database, warrants remain active and on file until the wanted subjects are apprehended or a court order is issued directing the cancellation of the criminal warrant.

If you failed to appear in court and a warrant was issued for your arrest, or if you are surrendering as part of your court-ordered sentencing, please read the instructions below:
  • You may surrender yourself to the Lake County Jail 24/7, 365 days a year. Please report to the Jail Reception area at the Lake County Adult Correctional Facility located at 20 South County Street in Waukegan. Please bring a photo ID and any court documents you may have. You can bring your own bond money at the time of your surrender and use these monies to post bond if you choose.
  • Please refrain from bringing personal belongings other than a photo ID, cash for bond, and court documents. Any other belongings will be confiscated and held in inmate property until release.
