VETERANS ASSISTANCE HELP IS FREE

The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County is available to assist veterans in filing claims with the Veterans Administration.  The  VAC has accredited veteran service officers available to file claims and represent the veteran before the Veterans Administration.

The VAC assist veterans with service and non service connected claims, aid and attendance, debt management issues, education and assistance with changing discharge status.

Various other organizations and individuals advertise services to veterans that the VAC provides at no charge. These other organizations and individuals charge for their services. Before contracting for the services of such organizations or individuals, veterans should contact  and seek assistance from VAC.

The VAC of Lake County was established  pursuant to Chapter 330, of The Military Veterans Assistance Act.  The act allows the commission to promote the welfare of honorably discharged veterans of military service, and their families; to act as a central service office for all veteran organizations included as members of the commission, and to have general oversight of the distribution of emergency assistance to military veterans and their families.
