Beginning Thursday, June 13, 2013 - the Recorder of Deeds Office’s recording and copy counters, the public search terminals and the index books will be located in the first floor lobby. The friendly and knowledgeable staff from the Recorder's Office and the GIS/Mapping Division will be available to assist you from 8:30am – 5:00pm every day.

Due to the traffic flow requirements and related space limitations, the number of terminals available for public use and the size of the search area will be greatly reduced from our current arrangement. As an alternative to coming into Waukegan, you may wish to subscribe to the Online Access service available through the Recorder of Deeds website.

Dear Friends:

Thank you for visiting the Lake County Recorder's Office website. The tabs on the left are designed to explain "what we do" and to increase public confidence that business with the Recorder's Office can be conducted quickly, efficiently - and best of all - easily!

The Recorder of Deeds Office is responsible for recording, archiving and retrieving any document submitted to be recorded.

We welcome the public to drop by at any time to review our documents, which date back to 1844, and to ask any of our friendly staff members for help.

In addition to deeds and mortgages, the staff records plats of subdivision, ordinances and annexations, liens and releases, articles of incorporation, Uniform Commercial Code filings, military service discharge papers and other various document types that have been submitted to become public record.

All of us in the Recorder's Office are dedicated to providing you with the best possible service.
