The Lake-McHenry Veterans and Family Services program works through a network of agencies to help military personnel, veterans and their families face challenges, before, during and after deployments. The program focuses on veterans, active duty military personnnel and their families especially, but not limited to, their connection to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Funded through the Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA), the program is consumer guided with outreach promoting early intervention, wellness and recovery.
This program focuses on three areas: training veterans to help veterans, accommodating family members making adjustments, and training professionals to improve response to veterans and veterans' families in need.

• The judicial courts systems
• Existing and past consumers who show an interest in being part of the initiative
• The Illinois Institute of Technology
