Lake County Coordinated Transportation Services Committee (LCCTSC)

The LCCTSC is a broad based coalition of government officials, service providers and advocacy groups concerned with the provision of transportation in and around Lake County.

Mission
The mission of the LCCTSC is to facilitate the implementation of coordinated, efficient, reliable and affordable public transportation throughout Lake County, with particular reference to paratransit, that will serve the needs of persons with disabilities or medical challenges, the elderly, low income residents and those in need of transportation for access to employment.

Vision
The LCCTSC strives to impact the overall direction of transportation services in Lake County, including fostering coordination and improving transit and transportation services for seniors and persons with medical needs or disabilities, persons with work transportation needs, and the low income population. Furthermore, LCCTSC aims to help transportation providers identify needs, eliminate duplication of services, find solutions and redistribute funds in order to better serve the needs of the community at large, as well as to provide central access to information and options that are coordinated, affordable and borderless within Lake County.

The Northwest Demonstration Project (NW Demo) dial-a-ride service began on January 2010 and was opened to registered riders of Antioch, Avon, Grant, and Lake Villa Townships.   The NW Demo was designed as an extension of the existing Pace Northwest Lake Dial-a-Ride and provides early morning and late evening hours service (Monday to Friday) within the four Township boundaries and to the Gurnee Mills area.

The extended hours of service in the morning and in the evening and the extension of the service area to the Gurnee Mills area have proven to be very successful. In 2010, during its first year of service, the NW Demo provided 6,874 one-way trips.  In 2011, up until the end of October, the NW Demo provided 11,500 one-way trips.

2011 NW Demo Service Survey

To evaluate the NW Demo service to date, the LCCTSC NW Demonstration Project Steering Committee mailed out the NW Demo Dial-a-Ride Project Survey to 323 registered riders who used the services during the six-month period from March to August 2011.  The surveys were mailed out on October 4th, with a return date of November 1st.
By November 21, 2011, a total of 89 (27.5%) survey responses were returned, including 4 completed online.
