Buffalo Grove Road Phase I Study
The Lake County Division of Transportation is performing a Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Study (Phase I Study) for Buffalo Grove Road from Deerfield Parkway to IL Route 22.
Cedar Lake Road Improvement
This project involves preliminary engineering studies and public meetings to consider reconstructing a portion of Cedar Lake Road. The project limits begin just north of Illinois Route 120 and extend to the curve just south of Nippersink Road.
Gilmer Road / Midlothian Road Intersection Improvement
The Lake County Division of Transportation has initiated a preliminary (Phase I) engineering study for the improvement of the intersection of Gilmer Road and Midlothian Road in Hawthorn Woods and unincorporated Lake County.
Illinois Route 120 / Gilmer Road
This study involves potential relocation of a portion of Gilmer Road, a western extension of Ellis Drive, intersection improvements at Volo Village Road and US Route 12, and various traffic signal improvements.
Illinois Route 59 / Grand Avenue
Phase I study to look at ways to reduce congestion and increase safety at this intersection.
Old McHenry Road Improvement
Plans are being studied to improve traffic flow, drainage, pedestrian accommodations and streetscapes on Old McHenry Road in downtown Long Grove.
US Route 45 Project [Millburn Bypass]
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is currently working on engineering plans for the US Route 45 west bypass alternative.
Deerfield Road Bike Path West Project
Engineering plans are being prepared for a new bike path connecting the existing Buffalo Grove bike path at Deerfield Road and IL Route 21 (Milwaukee Avenue) east to the recently constructed Lake County Division of Transportation bike path at the Des Plaines River Trail within the Village of Riverwoods.
River Road / Roberts Road Intersection Improvement
The existing signalized intersection will be developed into a roundabout to accommodate future vehicle travel demands. The plan also includes connectivity to the adjacent Forest Preserve by way of a multi-use path that will connect to future planned trails throughout the preserve.
Washington Street Thoroughfare
Coordination with local municipalities and utility companies for utility relocation continues. Permit preparation and submittals are ongoing and work continues on final design documents for both the Central Project and Grade Separation projects. Right of way is also being acquired as needed.
Wilson Road / Nippersink Road Intersection Improvement
Plans are being prepared for a new traffic signal to be installed at the intersection of Wilson Road and Nippersink Road.
Unified Vision for the Central Lake Thruway
The Route 120 Corridor Planning Council Governance Board voted on Wednesday, October 14th, 2009, to approve a unified vision for the future of the Illinois Route 120 transportation corridor. Recommendations include Route 120 as a four-lane, limited access arterial highway, with a by-pass along seven miles of the state road.
