Our Values: Fiscal Responsibility, Exceptional Service, Leadership and Environmental Stewardship
In the area of fiscal responsibility, the County Board has a balanced budget and Lake County maintains AAA bond rating, the highest possible rating. To learn more, visit our newly enhanced budget portal.
In early 2014, government, business, and civic leaders came together to discuss issues and opportunities to collaborate at the first ever Leaders Summit. Some key themes emerged including sharing services, investing in transportation, and 911 consolidation. Subsequently, officials delved deeper into those discussions at four Leaders Regional Roundtables in each quadrant of the county. Later in the year, fire, police, municipal and other leaders met to discuss opportunities to consolidate 911 dispatch centers which provides an opportunity to improve quality, efficiency, and provide cost savings.
The Lake County Shared Services Initiative strives to collaborate and coordinate with other units of governments to generate greater economies of scale, foster partnerships and to reduce organizational costs.
To promote environmental stewardship, Lake County is advancing operational and community-wide sustainability initiatives, from land and water conservation efforts to the recently adopted Sustainability Chapter of the Lake County Regional Framework Plan.
