Text a Tip
The County Board approved funding for a Text a Tip program throughout the county allowing anyone seeking help to reach out unanimously be connected with the appropriate services.
Lake County continues to be an active stakeholder in the Lake County Opioid Initiative - a countywide collaborative effort to combat the growing issue of heroin and other opiate drugs. As of February, two lives were saved from overdoses as a result of the opioid reversal drug Naloxone being in the hands of officers in the field, along with training provided by the Health Department.
IL Route 53 Extension
Chairman Lawlor, along with county board members and staff, have
been actively involved and leading efforts to advance the IL Route
53/Route 120 project including participating in the collaborative Land
Use Planning Process and working with CMAP and corridor communities to
develop a broad land use strategy for the entire corridor. Additionally,
Lake County has played a strong leadership role in developing and
completing the Finance Committee’s recommended funding plan for the
project (approved in March and shared with the Tollway Board).
Additionally, the Chairman and staff have attended numerous meetings
with mayors, Tollway and State officials, and sent letters of support in
an effort to advance this critical regional transportation project that
will provide tremendous economic development growth opportunities. www.ILRoute53.org
Regional Collaboration/Consolidated 911
The Lake County Emergency Telephone System Board, in collaboration
with the County Board, funded and awarded a contract to conduct Phase 2
of the 911 study for potential consolidation. In concert with that,
Lake County is leading an effort to establish a 911 Consolidation
Taskforce to further study the potential for 911 consolidation. An
integrated 911 system has the opportunity to improve quality,
efficiency, and provide cost savings.
Lake County continues to advance its Shared Services Initiative
collaborate and coordinate with other units of governments to generate
greater economies of scale, foster partnerships and to reduce costs.
Lake County is working with the Municipal Partnering Initiative (MPI) on
a number of joint bidding initiatives including employee safety
trainings, bridge and retaining wall inspections and other procurement
Lake County Life
The Lake County Life branding/marketing campaign that includes a
website – www.lakecountylife.org
– and a promotional video provides a
unified message about Lake County’s many assets in one place. It is
targeted to residents, visitors, businesses, and business prospects
utilizing various media channels. This quarter, the campaign garnered
significant reach through digital communication strategies, including
contests on social media. Since launching in January, the video has been
viewed more than 15,000 views.
