Text a Tip
The County Board approved funding for a Text a Tip program throughout the county allowing anyone seeking help to reach out unanimously be connected with the appropriate services.
Lake County continues to be an active stakeholder in the Lake County Opioid Initiative - a countywide collaborative effort to combat the growing issue of heroin and other opiate drugs. As of February, two lives were saved from overdoses as a result of the opioid reversal drug Naxolone being in the hands of officers in the field, along with training provided by the Health Department.
In January 2015, Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor along with Forest Preserve President Ann Maine, hosted the second annual Leader’s Summit, bringing together government, business, and civic leaders to discuss issues and opportunities to collaborate. Read the Summary Report and watch video. At this event, we launched “"Lake County Life," a digital marketing campaign that defines what makes Lake County special.
Lake County continues to advance its Shared Services Initiative to collaborate and coordinate with other units of governments to generate greater economies of scale, foster partnerships and to reduce organizational costs. Joint purchasing and contracting opportunities being pursued include: procurement card services, hydrant painting, joint utility locating information for excavators (JULIE) services, and expanded elevator inspection services.
To promote environmental stewardship, Lake County is advancing operational and community-wide sustainability initiatives, from land and water conservation efforts to the recently adopted Sustainability Chapter of the Lake County Regional Framework Plan.
