Exceptional Service

Text a Tip

The County Board approved funding for a Text a Tip program throughout the county allowing anyone seeking help to reach out unanimously be connected with the appropriate services.

Opioid Initiative

Lake County continues to be an active stakeholder in the Lake County Opioid Initiative - a countywide collaborative effort to combat the growing issue of heroin and other opiate drugs. As of February, two lives were saved from overdoses as a result of the opioid reversal drug Naloxone being in the hands of officers in the field, along with training provided by the Health Department.

IL Route 53 Extension

Chairman Lawlor, along with county board members and staff, have been actively involved and leading efforts to advance the IL Route 53/Route 120 project including participating in the collaborative Land Use Planning Process and working with CMAP and corridor communities to develop a broad land use strategy for the entire corridor. Additionally, Lake County has played a strong leadership role in developing and completing the Finance Committee’s recommended funding plan for the project (approved in March and shared with the Tollway Board). Additionally, the Chairman and staff have attended numerous meetings with mayors, Tollway and State officials, and sent letters of support in an effort to advance this critical regional transportation project that will provide tremendous economic development growth opportunities.

Regional Collaboration/Consolidated 911

The Lake County Emergency Telephone System Board, in collaboration with the County Board, funded and awarded a contract to conduct Phase 2 of the 911 study for potential consolidation.  In concert with that, Lake County is leading an effort to establish a 911 Consolidation Taskforce to further study the potential for 911 consolidation.  An integrated 911 system has the opportunity to improve quality, efficiency, and provide cost savings.

Shared Services

Lake County continues to advance its Shared Services Initiative to collaborate and coordinate with other units of governments to generate greater economies of scale, foster partnerships and to reduce costs. Lake County is working with the Municipal Partnering Initiative (MPI) on a number of joint bidding initiatives including employee safety trainings, bridge and retaining wall inspections and other procurement opportunities.

Lake County Life

The Lake County Life branding/marketing campaign that includes a website – – and a promotional video provides a unified message about Lake County’s many assets in one place. It is targeted to residents, visitors, businesses, and business prospects utilizing various media channels. This quarter, the campaign garnered significant reach through digital communication strategies, including contests on social media. Since launching in January, the video has been viewed more than 15,000 views.
