The County Board has approved several agreements that promote shared services with other government agencies, including providing building inspections with the Village of Round Lake Beach, police services for the Village of Mettawa, and water meters for the Lakes Region Sanitary District.
Intergovernmental Collaborative Purchasing and Partnering Initiative
Lake County has participated in two joint bids in 2014 with local municipal agencies – elevator inspection services and bulk rock salt. For the elevator inspections, the County partnered with seven municipalities through the Southeast Lake County working group. The bid for Bulk Rock Salt included 28 municipalities and townships participating in this joint venture. Lake County staff was successful at securing favorable contract pricing well in advance of the annual bid process by the State of Illinois. The Purchasing Division continues to identify opportunities to include joint purchasing contracts in for all applicable contracted services and commodity contracts. To date, 28 contracts have been awarded which include joint purchasing provisions.
