Stream and Lake Property Owner Best Management Practices

Waterfront property is valuable because of the water itself. High property values rely on aesthetics and the quality of the water for recreational and drinking water purposes. Due to the close proximity of the waterfront properties to the water, it is important to ensure that homeowners are not adversely impacting the stream, lake or river.

Homeowners and property owners can do easy things to keep the water clean and the watershed healthy. Most the following BMPs can be integrated before, during and after a home or marina are built. Every BMP however is beneficial to the environment regardless of cost, but the unique combination of BMPs for each property can help establish a healthy watershed.
