Special Response Team
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reallocated personnel to form the Special Response Team (SRT), tasked with addressing the rise in gang-related activities including the increased sale of narcotics and illegal sale and possession of firearms. Members of the SRT are trained to identify and apprehend offenders participating in the sale of drugs, firearms and/or participating in other gang-related activities compromising the safety of the county and its residents.
SRT is a mobile patrol unit, working within the Highway Patrol Unit. Shifts are established based on years of statistical data indicating the most likely times for illicit activities to take place.
Following an arrest, SRT works closely with the Special Investigations Section (SIS). SIS is tasked with case development and management of illicit activities involving drugs, guns and gangs.
