Affordable Housing (HOME, LCAHP)
Lake County has grant funds available annually for non-profit organizations and developers for affordable housing projects and programs serving households under 80% of area median income, such as: development, rehabilitation, new construction, and homebuyer assistance.
Many of these activities are carried out by the Affordable Housing Corporation (AHC). Funded in part by Lake County’s federal funds, AHC can assist low/moderate-income households with the following:
- Home Buyer Programs
- Buyer Education and Counseling
- Home Improvement Programs
- Foreclosure Prevention
Please call AHC at 847.263.7478 for more information regarding these programs.
Lake County staff also works with the Affordable Housing Commission, which oversees affordable housing activities in the County.
Details regarding information to apply for Lake County Housing Funds can be found on the Applicants page.
The Lake County Board has also chosen to fund the Affordable Housing Program (LCAHP) with county dollars. This program aims to promote affordable housing activities for households that are ineligible under federal guidelines, but still in need of assistance – that is, households between 80% and 100% of area median income.
Details regarding information to apply for Lake County Public Infrastructure Funds can be found on the Current Grantees page.
The Lake County Community Development Division has developed a Management Guide that contains valuable information and guidance to grantees. Within the guide are numerous forms. Visit the Management Guide page for information
