Community Development

Lake County has grant funds available from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist low-income persons. Funds can be used for the following activities:

• Public Infrastructure (sewers, roads, etc.) improvements
• Affordable Housing development and rehabilitation
• Public Service activities, assisting human service organizations
• Homeless Assistance

Community Development is responsible for preparing the following documents and administering these funds:

• 5-Year Consolidated Plan – explains the needs and goals of Lake County
• Annual Action Plan – explains the projects to be undertaken by Lake County
• CAPER Performance Report – explains what Lake County has accomplished

Community Development activities are overseen by the Community Development Commission (CDC), which meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7:00 PM.

The CDC encourages residents to get involved in the decision making process for the use of grant funds. The Citizen Participation & Input page provides information on how you can do so.
