Lake County Public Works follows strict testing procedures to ensure that drinking water meets or exceeds all current health standards. Public notification will occur if certain contaminants are found to be higher than the set standards. Occurrences are rare, but might be caused by changes in local source water conditions, heavy rainstorms, or a change in the condition of the distribution system. Check public water supply health notice postings on the internet.
Depending on the severity of the alert consumers may be notified via door-to-door advisory, direct mailing, radio/television broadcast, newspaper, community health organization notice and/or postings on the internet.
Hydrant flushing schedules and water service disruption information is posted on the Public Works website.
Traffic alerts such as accidents, major construction and other delays on local roadways are reported in real-time on Lake County PASSAGE.

Know where to go! - In the case of an illness outbreak or bioterrorism event, you may be asked to visit your local polling place to pick up medicine for your family. During recent months the Health Department has worked with the County Clerk’s office, townships and municipalities to develop a plan that would utilize local polling places as points of distribution during a public health emergency. By utilizing the polling sites, the population will be spread out to a large number of locations close to home, alleviating possible traffic congestion and reducing the need to travel far. Locate your polling place.
