Counseling and Testing
Anonymous and confidential HIV counseling and testing is offered at the Health Department's Belvidere Medical Building in Waukegan, located at 2400 Belvidere Road. The clinic is located on Dodge Avenue, just east of McAree. Services are free of charge and open to anyone. You can make an appointment by calling 847.377.8450.
Education
Individual and group education on HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases is offered throughout Lake County. Educators are available days, evenings and weekends to provide these services free of charge. If you would like an educational presentation, please call 847.377.8450 to make arrangements..
Prevention Case Management (PCM)
PCM provides intensive, individualized support and prevention counseling to assist persons to remain HIV negative or to reduce the risk for HIV transmission to others by those who are seropositive. PCM is intended for persons who are having or who are likely to have difficulty initiating and sustaining safer behavior. As part of a holistic program, referrals to various social service agencies are also provided. Services are free of charge.
Street Outreach
Outreach workers provide prevention education on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases on the streets of Lake County to high-risk individuals. In addition, free on-site HIV testing is provided with the noninvasive screening - OraSure. Referrals are also provided to social service agencies.
