Low-cost Pet Vaccination Clinics
Low-cost pet vaccination clinics provide a convenient and affordable way to keep pets up to date with their shots and rabies tags. Pets are taken on a first come first served basis. All animals brought to a clinic must be at least four months old. Dogs must be leashed and cats placed in carriers. Only cash will be accepted on site. For more information, call: (847) 949-9925. For pets spayed/neutered: one-year rabies vaccination and Lake County tag, $20; one-year rabies vaccination, tag and distemper, $25; distemper complex only, $10; microchip, $15.
For pets not spayed/neutered: one-year rabies vaccination and Lake County tag, $60; one-year rabies vaccination, tag and distemper, $65; distemper complex only, $10; microchip, $15.

Services
Staff at the Animal Care and Control facility, located at 29278 N. Highway 83, Mundelein, IL 60060, provides the following services:
- Enforce animal control laws, including Lake County Ordinances and Policies, and Illinois Statutes
- Maintain lost and found pet service
- Provide interim shelter and care for stray and unwanted animals and transport to adoption center
- Investigate complaints of nuisance and/or threatening animals
- Provide emergency rescue of injured and sick stray animals
- Investigate incidents of animal bites and/or scratches
- Observe impounded biting animals
- Submit specimens to the State of Illinois laboratory for rabies testing
- Present educational programs to schools and community and civic groups
- Provide animal control support services to Sheriff and municipal police departments upon request

The Health Department works in partnership with Save-A-Pet (847.740.7788) to help assure that lost, homeless and unwanted animals are given another chance to find a home through the adoption process.

In 1969 the Lake County Board developed an agreement with Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter (847.945.0235) to make stray and unwanted dogs and cats that are apprehended by Animal Control available for adoption. County Wardens deliver approximately 2,200 animals to Orphans of the Storm annually, making it the main source for stray and unwanted animals in Lake County.

Spay and Stay is a non-profit organization dedicated to working with compassionate individuals and local governments to control the growth of the feral cat population in Lake County, while implementing long-term solutions to its source: unaltered, free-roaming and/or abandoned domestic cats.
