Best Foot Forward - Preventing Falls
in Lake County
Falls are the second most frequent cause of hospital admission due to accident or injury for people age 75 to 84 in Lake County. For those age 85 and older, falls are the most frequent reason for being admitted to the hospital.
Representatives from groups throughout Lake County are working together to help seniors prevent that first fall through a falls prevention task force called Best Foot Forward (BFF). A goal of the Health Deparment is to reduce injury from falls and this page is a location where information and links to resources are provided to help seniors put their best foot forward in their daily lives. Many organizations are focusing on the effort, including the Lake County Health Department/Commmunity Health Center, Rosalind Franklin University, assisted living communities, private and public organizations as well as the following hospitals:
- Advocate Condell Medical Center
-
Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital
-
NorthShore University HealthSystem
