Lake County is Fiscally Sound
Over the last several years, like all local governments, Lake County experienced declines in revenues due to the economic downturn, as well as cuts in state funding. In response to the “new normal” of today's economic conditions, the County Board made smart decisions, applied sustainable strategies, and implemented sound investments. As a result, Lake County’s budget is balanced and we are fiscally stable.
The County Board allocates funding to more than 30 departments and divisions including eight departments run by independently elected officials.
Lake County has triple A crediting ratings, the highest awarded to governments, from Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Investors Services. A diverse and growing economy, strong financial management, and a manageable debt burden are the hallmarks of triple A rated counties.
