|The Lake County Board approved a $110 million Courthouse Expansion Project designed to
increase the efficiency of the justice system and support growth of the justice agencies out to the year
2030 and beyond. The County planned and saved for this project, and is paying for it with 20% cash
and bonding the balance.
|The project involves construction of a new three story building addition on the north portion of the campus. The new facility includes a first floor level with main entrance, security screening, lobby, offices for various justice agencies, child-care area and mechanical spaces, a second floor that includes hearing rooms with related support spaces and additional offices for various justice agencies, and a third floor which includes shelled expansion space. A minor connecting link will also be required to tie the new addition to the existing justice complex and to allow for staff and in-custody circulation between the two buildings.
