Purchasing Division

Lake County Purchasing Division:

• Provides the highest level of purchasing services to efficiently meet department needs through an open, competitive process that encourages to protect against fraud and favoritism. 

• Assists all county departments and agencies in purchasing required goods and services in conformance with Illinois state law, state regulation, Lake County Purchasing Ordinance(PDF 121 KB), related resolutions of the County Board and administrative policies.

• Issues purchase orders in accordance with the purchasing ordinance. Purchase Order Terms and Conditions (PDF 10KB)

• Works to ensure purchasing requirements are met; (Purchases less than $30,000 are made in accordance with established procedures for small dollar purchases and informal quotations and purchases in excess of $30,000 are publicly advertised and are subject to formal bidding procedures).

For Fiscal Year 2007, the county spent approximately $16.4 million for supplies, $161.4 million for services and $43.4 million for capital expenses.  If you are interested in being a vendor for Lake County, review the commodity list and contact for the buyer most closely associated with the service or commodity your business provides.
