Sheriff Mark Curran is pleased to announce a member of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office has been named a 2018 International Association of Chiefs of Police ’40 Under 40’ awardee. Sergeant Keith Kaiser will accept the award at the 2018 International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in October. This award program is designed to recognize 40 law enforcement professionals under the age of 40, from around the world who demonstrate leadership and exemplify commitment to their profession. Out of the hundreds of nominations, the 40 selected must be between the ages of 18 and 39, must demonstrate values and commitment to law enforcement, and have a capacity for leadership.Keith began his career with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in 2004. During his time as a Sheriff’s Deputy he served as a patrol deputy, field training officer, evidence technician, and detective. In 2016, Keith was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He’s served as a patrol sergeant, detective sergeant, and currently serves as the Lake County Sheriff’s Director of Training. As Director of Training, Keith is responsible for the training needs of over 550 sworn and civilian personnel. Additionally, he advanced the countywide Crisis Intervention Team Training and he oversees the $250,000 Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program grant the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Received in 2016.Throughout the years, Keith assisted in numerous Sheriff’s Office initiatives. His expertise was utilized in the implementation of our body-worn camera program. He authored and reviewed policy while pursuing agency accreditation. Keith also researched and wrote several new ordinances which have been adopted by the Lake County Board.Keith earned a Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University in 2013 and he recently graduated from Northwestern University’s prestigious School of Police Staff and Command.Sheriff Mark Curran said, “To be named as an International Association of Chiefs of Police ‘40 Under 40’ awardee is a tremendous accomplishment for both Keith and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
