In just the past eight days, we’ve seen two major emergency responses to extremely volatile, chaotic situations. Last week hundreds of Lake County first-responders answered the call in Beach Park, where we worked together to keep the community safe from a major chemical leak.
Yesterday, we saw our first-responders again come together with the building explosion in Waukegan. Our first-responders again answered the call, putting themselves in danger, to help rescue victims involved in the explosion.
I continue to be so very proud of our sheriff’s deputies, local police officers, firefighters, and paramedics. Lake County has a truly dedicated and professional group of first-responders serving them.
I along with the staff of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office are very hopeful the three missing workers at the chemical plant are located alive, and all of those injured have a fast recovery. The City of Waukegan has the full support of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, as they continue search-and-rescue operations, and their investigation.
