Energy Efficiency and Conservation

What Can You Do?

There are things you can do right now to lower your energy use and save money. The average Illinois household spends $3,000 per year on energy. Making efficiency improvements can generally help reduce these costs by 15% to 30% – that’s $450 to $900 per year. Learn more by visiting Energy Impact Illinois.

What is Lake County doing?

We are implementing several energy efficiency and conservation projects using about $5.6 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds through the Department of Energy's "Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program." Lake County is leveraging this federal funding with $5 million of capital funding to broaden the impact of this program. The program areas are as follows:
